Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight”.

Life iis full of mystery and wonder… I wonder what the weather will be like tomorrow so that I can plan what to wear. I wonder if I am able to do what I am asked to do. I wonder should I take my holiday now or next year. I wonder what to cook for lunch today. I wonder should I wear this outfit or that outfit for my interview tomorrow. And the list of wonders about life in general goes on and on and we agonize over choices to make. What if I make the wrong choice? Will I be happy and content with the choice that I’ve made?

Life in the Spirit also asks many choices of us. God has given us free will and He wants us to use it wisely. We can be free in ourselves and be our own person with our unique personalities or we can choose to be a prisoner and limit who we are in ourselves. We can choose to bring others joy today or to bring grief to people through our attitudes. We can choose to be positive or negative in our outlook of life. The Choice is always ours to make and ours alone.

When waking up in the morning, you have a choice to invite God into your day or to exclude Him. New graces and opportunities awaits us when we are open to receiving gifts from God. God has come to bring us life and He wants us to live it in abundance. When we include God in our choices, we can be sure that the right choice will be made because God is in it with us.

What about choosing a lifestyle that is right for you? What kind of Vocation has God mapped out for your life? Jer 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you”, says the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future”. Is the choice of life for you to be married? How do you know if your partner is the best person for you? How can you tell if he is the one or she is the one? Will I be happy with that person? Does that person complete me or complement me? Do I feel at home with him or her? All these questions asks us to make a choice.

How about the Priesthood? Could God be calling some of you to be His completely and serve God in the Church through administering the Sacraments, feeding the poor in spirit with the Good News of Christ and celebrating the Eucharist each day?

If your Vocation is not Marriage, then it could be Single Life. How do you know that you are suppose to be living a single life and not venture into marriage? Have you consulted God with this choice of life?

What about the Religious Life Vocation? Could God be calling some of you to belong to Him completely in body and soul and be a witness for Him through the Evangelical Councils of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience?

All these are choices and we need to ask God to enlighten us to make the right choice for our life.

We can choose to grow or to stagnate. How do we make a difference with our life? Do we want to bless others with our lives and bring glory to God, or do we choose to live for ourselves only?

May God the Holy Spirit give us enlightenment on our path of life to make the right choice with our life.

May peace, joy and love follow you always in the correct choices for your life.
