I am now
The season of Creation starts on the 1st of September and ends on the 4th of October each year. In this season, we are made aware through the inspiration of St Francis of Assisi, Patron Saint of Ecology, just how beautiful the earth God created, is. Pope Francis, in his Encyclical, Laudato Si, reminds us of the Genesis Story, when God created heaven and the earth and every thing from plants, seas, rivers, mountains, animals wild and tame, insects, birds, stars, planets, galaxies, sun and moon, to the last of God’s creation, human beings. Just as God created the heaven and the earth, He is still creating and recreating.
With this in mind, He has created me in His image and likeness. I am now. I am not the same person of yesterday or last year, nor am I the person I will be tomorrow, because the future I cannot see, but I am me now. Who am I now, this moment? I am unique with gifts and talents that God has given to me only. I am not a carbon copy. I am me, and only me. I am crafted in God’s image to give Him glory now.
I am alive now to be the person God has called me to be. I am sunshine; I am rain; I am beauty; I am pain. I am song and joy. I am energised to give of my best to the world He has placed me in. I am thunder and storm. I am light hearted and full of wit. I am a dreamer. I have visions for the future. My laughter is my trade-mark. My life is music and the song that only I can sing. I am a thinker a feeler.
I have strong perception and intuition. I have a gift of sensing things and of reading people. I am so much more. God is not finished with me yet. He is still creating and recreating me, forming, reforming and transforming me. What I will be tomorrow, has still to be unfolded. It is a surprise that God has for me. I will only know about it tomorrow. I can’t live in the future for it has not yet arrived. I can’t live in the past, for it is gone and out of sight. I can only live now, in the present and the present is a gift.
Whether I am happy or sad, ecstatic or just plain mischievous, this is me now. God has a plan to work with me now. My words are an inspiration and an expression of me now. My words, whether it takes the form of a poem or a song or a blog, I hope that it will touch someone’s heart, to be more open and accepting of who they are, special and unique.
Who I am now, is God’s gift to me. Who I will be in the future, is my gift back to God. Who are you now?
