The ups and downs of life can be like a roller coaster ride. One minute you’re a go-getter ready to take on the world. The world is your oyster. The next minute you’re down in the dumps wallowing in self pity. Nothing is going right. Everything is going wrong and everyone is against you.

Why is life such a blur of emotions? Have you ever felt like giving up? Nothing you do or say will ever make a difference. You are overlooked. You might as well be invisible. Your self-esteem has hit rock bottom and your whole life seems a big mess.

Why does it seem that there is no way out of this hell hole? What makes life so unbearable? Will the sun ever shine again? It is raining, windy, and stormy. Depression sets in and there is no escape. The lows outnumber the highs. It is dark out there.

What is going on? Where can you find solace? Is anyone listening or paying attention? This is a cry for help. Life is lonely and confusing. Will it be like this forever? However, life is not all doom and gloom.

What about the joys of life? Have you ever felt ecstatic about something? You put your hand to anything and it turns to gold. You have the Midas touch. Luck is on your side. Everything seem to go your way. You are in the clouds and everywhere you turn, you see sunshine. Nothing gets you down. Life is worth living. You are successful in every exam and your path is paved in gold. You have a bright future ahead of you because you are putting in all your energy into achieving your goals and dreams for your life.

What about sadness? Someone close to you has died and your whole world has crumbled. Will you ever be able to live without them in your life? Will that void in your heart ever be filled again?

Being anxious is also a burden in life. You are worried about your wayward son or daughter. You are worried about financial problems. You cannot pay your medical bills. It is astronomical and beyond you. You have small children to clothe and feed and you don’t know how to get out of this rut.

Being bullied at school can also lead to a low morale. People at school or in the work place treat you with unkindness and harshness. You are constantly being trampled on. Your dignity as a person is not respected.

How about your health? Is that in check? Do you follow a well balanced diet? Do you exercise enough? Even a simple brisk walk daily and drinking lots of water is good enough for a healthy life style.

Did you receive devastating news lately? Perhaps you got a terrible diagnosis from your doctor. Your life is in turmoil and you feel so alone and afraid because of a cancerous tumor or maybe you’re on the brink of getting a stroke. What do you do? How do you cope?

Where is God in all of this? Does God even care? Why does He seem far away? How strong is your faith in the trials of life?

Jesus says in Mt 11:28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

We need to constantly go on our knees and pray to God for relief in our difficulties and stresses of life. No matter how long it takes, we need to keep on going on. Prayer is essential and with prayer comes faith. We need to believe that with God all things are possible.

Can God heal the broken-hearted? Yes, He can. He is very close to all those who are broken and hurt. When you reach out to God, He will touch you with healing and peace.

For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal, declares the Lord.

~ Jeremiah 30:17

God’s word is true and full of promise. He promises to heal us, to be close to the broken-hearted, to give us peace, to take away our sins, to save us from the yoke of slavery, to be a tower of strength for the troubled and confused, and so much more.

Browse through the Scriptures and you will find solace and comfort for your troubled souls. Let the Lord take you in His loving arms and embrace you with His everlasting love. Let Him heal your wounds, because by His wounds, you have been healed.

The iimages below depicts a few Bible passages that you can reflect on for your own life. Take comfort from them for God is an everlasting Rock, a very present help in times of distress.

May the Lord of peace comfort and strengthen you. May you receive an over-abundance of His Amazing Grace and healing.
